Technical Landscape Designer

Technical landscape designer

Grasveld Tuin- en Landschapsarchitecten | The Urban Jungle Project

- Culemborg: (Hybrid/Partial remote work possible)
- 32-40 hours per week
- Start Date: Immediate
- €3,200 – €4,200 gross per month (based on 40 hours)

Are you the one who translates concepts into reality?

A landscape design is only as good as its execution. Without someone to refine the technical details, a concept never truly comes to life. In this role, you are the vital link between vision and realization: the person who determines exactly how designs should be engineered and built. You understand which planting or paving suits which substrate, how to detail irrigation layouts, and how to leverage AutoCAD to capture a technically sound situation in a comprehensive plan.

At GRASVELD, you will join a small, ambitious team working on impactful landscape projects - ranging from high-end private gardens to green urban environments that are both climate-resilient and beautiful. Additionally, through our narrow partnership with The Urban Jungle Project, you will contribute indirectly to one of the most ambitious urban greening missions in the Netherlands.

No two days are the same. One morning you’re a sparring partner during a conceptual sketch; the next afternoon you’re conducting a site survey or finalizing the technical specifications of a masterplan before presenting it to the client.

What will you be doing?

A snapshot of your week:

  • Monday: Kick off with the team briefing on current projects, where you flag whether technical designs are feasible within the schedule.
  • Tuesday: Deep dive into AutoCAD: developing a sketch design into a detailed layout plan including cost estimations.
  • Wednesday: Act as the technical point of contact for colleagues—from paving details to evaluating contractor bids based on submitted quotes.
  • Thursday: Survey a new project site using our drone to establish base maps and inventory technical constraints on-site.
  • Friday: Mentor a junior colleague on their AutoCAD skills, finalize a 2D drawing for next week’s deadline, and send out a proposal to a potential client.

Who are you?

  • You have at least 2 years of experience as a technical designer in the green or built environment.
  • AutoCAD is your second language: you work fast, accurately, and in a structured manner.
  • You are analytical and inquisitive: where others get stuck, you dig deeper to understand the core challenge.
  • You guard quality from sketch to delivery, taking ownership without being asked.
  • You are a clear communicator, both internally and when dealing with clients and contractors.
  • Plant knowledge is a plus, or you have a strong drive to develop it.
  • Academic background (HBO level): preferably in Landscape Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar (e.g., Van Hall Larenstein, HAS).

What do we offer?

  • Salary of €3,200 - €4,200 gross per month (based on 40 hours), depending on experience.
  • High degree of autonomy and responsibility - no micromanagement.
  • A small, close-knit, multidisciplinary team with room for your own ideas.
  • Hybrid working: combine our office in Culemborg with working from home.
  • Travel allowance, pension scheme, and team excursions.
  • Growth opportunities within a rapidly evolving firm.
