AERES UNIVERSITY, DRONTENModular trees with an off the grid solar powered irrigation system

The Aeres Hogeschool Dronten offers students numerous agricultural courses. It is therefore well acquainted with the importance of greenery. Not only to feed livestock and enrich the soil, but also to provide shade for livestock on hot days and to increase biodiversity in agricultural environments.

These two Urban Trees are part of an experiment to prove that trees can function in off-grid environments where water and electricity are not available. The irrigation system is solar-powered and the water comes from a mobile buffer. Students are studying both irrigation delivery and optimisation of nutrition to improve tree health. These lessons will be used in our product development cycles, making research collaborations like this invaluable to our company!
